Interview With a Brighton & Hove Electronic Bus Timetable

I was recently lucky enough to secure an exclusive interview with an actual Brighton and Hove electronic bus timetable. It took time out of it’s busy day to chat with me about it’s job (see below)

THE INTERVIEW:

Jen: Good morning Brighton & Hove Electronic Bus Timetable. Thanks for agreeing to be interviewed today. Sorry it had to be so early in the morning.

Brighton & Hove Electronic Bus Timetable: 49 – Churchill Square – 4 minutes.

Jen: I’ll get straight on with the questions because I understand that you’re very busy today. Again, I really appreciate the opportunity to interview you.

Brighton & Hove Electronic Bus Timetable: 49 – Churchill Square – 4 minutes.

Jen: There’s been a lot of criticism lately from Brighton & Hove residents that you’ve not only been displaying incorrect bus times, but also wrong bus destinations as well. I was told by one commuter only yesterday that you displayed the 25 bus as “DUE” for exactly 7 minutes.

Brighton & Hove Electronic Bus Timetable: 49 – Churchill Square – 3 minutes.

Jen: No, I’m sorry, they’ve requested to remain anonymous. Of course, I understand that it’s not just you being accused of not doing your job properly. Most reports claim that it’s pretty much every electronic timetable in Brighton at the moment, but do you think that being “DUE” for 7 minutes is really acceptable?

Brighton & Hove Electronic Bus Timetable: 49 – Churchill Square – 2 minutes. 25 – Portslade Station – 17 minutes.

Jen: I think you’re just avoiding the question now.

Brighton & Hove Electronic Bus Timetable: 49 – Churchill Square – 2 minutes. 25 – Portslade Station – 16 minutes.

Jen: Well yes, I take your point that “DUE” as a concept is technically still valid regardless of whether it’s now or in 7 minutes time, but that’s just semantics. You’re slacking at your job and everybody knows it.

Brighton & Hove Electronic Bus Timetable: 49 – Churchill Square – 3 minutes.

Jen: You cannot be serious? You’re supposed to count DOWN not back UP. See, this is exactly what people are talking about. And where has the 25 gone? It’s just disappeared off of your screen. Does that mean it’s literally disappeared in real life too? Did it drive into the sea? And another thing, why are the 49’s only running as far as Churchill Square in the mornings? The bus is supposed to go further than that. We already have the 24, 25, 48 & 50 all going as far as Churchill Square. It’s just a joke, frankly.

Brighton & Hove Electronic Bus Timetable: 49 – Churchill Square – 2 minutes.

Jen: I’m sorry, you’re right. That last one isn’t your fault. I shouldn’t shoot the messenger. Well, we’ll wrap up there then. Thank you again Brighton & Hove Electronic Bus Timetable for lending us your valuable time.
